CHESS: A MENTAL SPORT FOR CHILDREN

Chess has educational benefits, by teaching kids good study habits to prepare for tournaments. It also helps them develop spatial reasoning and critical thinking. Chess can help kids develop good sportsmanship by teaching them how to learn from their victories and defeats against others.

I am a certified Senior Tournament Director through the USCF. I have helped run Scholastic and Open tournaments through the Maryland Chess Association for over 5 years. I also teach and tutor private students in chess through Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Online. During the week, I help run after school chess clubs with Silver Knights Chess Company, and teach students privately both in person and online.
